Women who have abortions are primarily women in their twenties, women of color, and those with lower incomes. About 57% of abortions are obtained by Women in their 20s, while nearly one-third are for women in their 30s. Black women make up the largest racial or ethnic group of abortion recipients, followed by Hispanic and non-Hispanic White women. Many are also low-income, unmarried, and have had at least one previous birth.
